FUTURE OF ELECTRIC VEHICLE GIANTS LIKE TESLA
Would tesla ever run out of chips.
Remember Tesla Motor’s original mission statement?
“to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy”
So when you have legacy automakers such as Ford, Toyota, Mercedes, etc putting more effort into electrification then that only moves Tesla closer to its ultimate goal.
As far as Tesla losing its edge in the EV market that doesn’t look like it will happen in a long time due to one teeny tiny thing (among others). I will explain in simplicity. . .
You know those vital things that power EVs? Where will legacy auto get their supply from once they get into EV mass production?
We are dealing with old-school mass ICE makers (Internal Combustion Engine). They simply don’t do batteries. They don’t design them and they don’t make them. If they haven’t started the R&D by now then they’re toast.
All those big car factories, all that capacity. No batteries? This is unless they buy from a third party. *cough* Tesla *cough*
This is also assuming they’ve figured out how to even make an actual, viable EV product *looking at you BMW, Mercedes, GM, Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, everyone else etc**hybrids don’t count* Tesla rolled out it's Model S in 2012. Their Roadsters were available since 2009. Ten years ago. No other company has introduced anything similar within specs and price range.
Meanwhile in the wild wild West . . . .
Tesla is the battery market. Its only battery factory produces 60% of the world’s lithium-ion batteries at 30% of its current capacity. Future Gigafactories loom on the horizon. Hello Shanghai. Hello Europe.
And what have old-school legacy automakers done about this so far?
Go, Tesla. Go EV. Screw petro.
