SPECTATORS ONCE RULED OUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

💡Spectators once ruled out the automatic transmission and here's their killer comparison with the manual transmission.

💡Manual transmissions have two things going for them that simply make them virtually indestructible.

💡One, they're simple and robust Heavy steel gears and synchronizers. Unless you seriously abuse them. it's easy to remove, gears are cheap, and it's simple to replace cluster gear and synchro.

💡Two, they come with a failsafe, a sacrificial lamb. The clutch. Clutches are easy to replace and cheap. They fail when driven badly, and generally protect more expensive parts. A properly handled clutch will easily last 100,000 miles and more.

💡Automatic Transmission has fluid passing through tiny holes and valves and servos in the valve body, clutch packs, torque converter, filter, fluid pump, actuators, linkage, switches, limiters…many parts to potentially fail. Cooling system to leak. Fluid burns or carries gunk in it, causing the clutch pack to slip and burn. Clogs valve body locks up servos. The torque converter locks up or fails to lock up. The cooling fan fails and fluid heats up, changing viscosity and causing problems.

💡There would be fewer people capable to fix it because of complexity and bla

💡today if you need to buy one of the modern cars out there, and you are like my granddad, who still thinks his left foot needs to rest on the clutch. then you would need to state clearly that you do prefer to go for that.

Ev is one of that innovations that needs time and support from us all.
